Wild Thing by Sally James
Ungrey my hair, unwrinkled my skin
straighten my bones and the things that cave in
sweeten my nature make me like a child
for I have grown bitter wretched and wild
fasten my tongue so I cannot talk
shackle my legs so I cannot walk
I cannot unspeak the harsh words that I said
or unwalk the path I had chosen to tread
so please forgive me for just being me
wretched and wild yet incredibly free.
