Absence of sound,
Unrealised bliss,
Echoless emptiness
Where everything
And nothing is possible.

A distant tap on cave walls
Will set my heart in motion.
Must I dance to its beat?
Allow blood to pulse through
A virgin forest of arteries
And willowed bone?

If I held the power
To stop it all and never
Open my ears to the cacophony
Of the living or expose
My eyes to the sear of daylight,
Would I consent to birth?

Or would I remain
In the un-breathed darkness
Of unformed flesh,
My voice forever muted,
My story never known?
