About the Author
I am a Yorkshire woman, and a happily adopted Lancastrian . A previous NHS Clinician... retired.I have also taught creative writing, to offenders, mature students and disability groups. I like to nurture new talent. One of the groups I taught in Rossendale won a National award for their work. I set up The Best of Bolton annual writers event at the Octagon, after coming up with the idea and working on it with Elizabeth Newman, then a new Director . I have had a monologue in the event every year the writers festival ran for. I have had professional work published [ in social work journals and the psychology journals] and had creative work in anthologies [ Pennine Ink et al] . I had a commissioned work/ monologue acted professionally for the LGBT History month event at the Bolton Museum in 2019. Six of my monologues/radio plays were successfully made into films, supported and recommended by Maxine Peake, and Julie Hesmondhalgh actors. I was until recently a Bolton hospital Governor, and am still involved with Bolton Hospice, where I am a patient and member/supporter. Writing keeps me going when all else fails! I am currently working on another film in my series ]'women's stories' which will be shown at Manchester art gallery [ rescheduled from March this year] as an installation once Covid rules allow.
